Mile-High Smiles” for a Village in GuatemalaSmileFaith traveled with Guatemalan Mission Outreach bringing urgent dental care and ministry to the mountain village of Panimaquin. The SmileFaith team also held an eyeglass clinic, a hair salon and a Vacation Bible School for the kids. Over one hundred people received dental treatments, hundreds of eye exams were given along with new eyeglasses, many ladies enjoyed new hair styles and lots of kids had a blast at VBS every day. And local businessman, Will Pieterse, donated laptops to the students at the mission school. The villagers of Panimaquin were very grateful for the love and care shown by every member of the SmileFaith mission team. Twenty-eight villagers prayed to receive Christ thanks to God’s amazing grace! "Thank you" to the team and to everyone who made this journey possible!
SmileFaith Saved My LifeAn active forty year old doesn’t expect to wind up with a full hip replacement, but Michael’s hip was injured four years ago so badly that a replacement was the only recourse back to normal life. Unfortunately, Michael found himself in a hospital bed last year with extreme infection in that same hip. The doctors were puzzled. They all agreed that there was no reason for the hip to be severely infected, and several weeks of antibiotics had made no impact at all. Finally, a visiting doctor examined Michael’s teeth and discovered the source of the hip infection – abscessed molars! SmileFaith provided urgent dental treatments and in no time, Michael’s hip and general health returned to normal. Thanks to generous supporters, SmileFaith is providing new smiles and saving lives!
SmileFaith Team Brings Smiles to Matucana, PeruThe small hospital in Matucana served as the base of operations for our dental team. Our team also hosted an inspiring Women’s Conference during the week which helped the local women of Matucana to learn about proper dental hygiene, as well as to know how to live a joyful Christian life. Over 200 people received much needed dental care, 633 individuals were given eye exams and new reading glasses, and 6 precious souls accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior! An elderly man from Matucana literally cried tears of joy when he got his new glasses. He said that he had not been able to read his Bible for many years because of his poor eye sight, but now, thanks to God and the mission team, he could see to read again!
Pasco County Volunteer Honored for Giving Smiles AwayCharlie Wiley didn’t have a whole lot to smile about growing up in the Tampa “projects”. He became street-wise at an early age, and eventually wound up in trouble, spending years behind bars as a young adult. Charlie’s commitment to sobriety and his road to recovery began 25 years ago. The power behind his life transformation has been in his unwavering commitment to helping others. Charlie came to SmileFaith , a faith-based Pasco County nonprofit, over five years ago as a nominee for a smile makeover. The foundation gave Charlie a new smile through charitable dental care and Charlie has been serving the community through the ministry of SmileFaith ever since. On April 22, 2015, SmileFaith honored Charlie for five years of faithful service.
Rocky's new SmileAs a naïve 18 year old teen from New York, Francis (Rocky) experienced the unbelievable horrors of war when he was deployed into the jungles of Vietnam. After his tour of duty in the army, Rocky returned stateside, but carried the pain into civilian life that only a seasoned combat Vet knows. For the next several decades, Rocky tried to escape the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder through alcohol. Rocky finally found healing when he was nominated to the SmileFaith Smile Makeover Program four years ago. Through SmileFaith’s Life Coach Counseling program, Rocky found new hope, sobriety, and lasting healing from the memories of war. SmileFaith gave Rocky a brand new smile through the Smile Makeover program, and now Rocky is showing other Veterans where to find hope from PTSD!
